Exercise Therapy

exercise-therapy

Movement is therapy. When we move, we create metabolic, hormonal, physical and chemical changes inside our body that help reducing pain and inflammation, optimize body function and speed up the recovery from an injury. Movement is a core treatment Daniele always includes in his sessions. Depending on the problem you suffer from, Daniele can select, personalise and prescribe the right exercise for your problem to correct impairments, restore function and maintain wellbeing. There is solid scientific evidence behind the use of exercise therapy and the benefits always outweigh the risks by far is most individuals. Exercising should not be painful. If you have tried some exercises in the past and they did not work, this may be because the execution, posture, dose, intensity or frequency of the exercises used were incorrect. Using the knowledge obtained with his degree of Sport and Exercise Science and his experience working as Personal Training, Daniele can create bespoke exercise programs to achieve your health/fitness goal. Examples of therapeutic exercises Daniele uses on a daily basis are aerobic, endurance, high intensity interval training, strength training, passive and dynamic stretching, agility training, proprioception, balance and coordination, relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, range of motion and motor control.

Body MOT

Body MOT

The term MOT stands for “Measurements, Observations, Tests” and it consists of an assessment of your physical health, including the health of your joints, strength, balance, agility and cardiovascular fitness. After assessing each of the above, Daniele can tell you which areas need improvement and how to improve them, along with easy-to-understand and realistic advice on how to work on problematic area effectively.

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation

Daniele is at the forefront of post-surgical rehabilitation. He specialises in assisting his patients to return to optimal strength, function and mobility after surgery. Having worked with athletes from several sport disciplines, he is used to helping people from surgery all the way back to the field. Recovery is often frustrating and slow following surgery, however with specific treatment and high-quality physiotherapy, Daniele can help patients to reduce recovery time significantly. Working closely with your surgeon, Daniele can develop focused individual treatment plans and practical goals that aim to get you back to your pre-surgery level of strength and fitness as soon as possible.

Spinal Manipulation Therapy

Spinal Manipulation Therapy

Spinal manipulation is a technique that targets the spine: neck, upper back and lower back. It consists of the application of rapid movement (High-Velocity Low-Amplitude) to vertebral segments producing joint surface separation, transient sensory afferent input and reduction in pain. Joint surface separation will commonly result in intra-articular cavitation that, in turn, is commonly accompany with audible “pop”. Daniele is fully trained in the use of manipulations and he commonly uses this for stretching the tissue and tear intra-articular adhesions, reduce joint stiffness and resistance to movement, reduce muscle tone and decrease pain. Spinal manipulations trigger a cascade of neurophysiological events and blood sample changes mediated by the peripheral nervous system, the spinal cord and/or the supraspinal structures that lead to pain inhibition.

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is an evidence-based technique where a physiotherapist uses their hands to manipulate, mobilise and massage the body tissues. This can help to relieve pain and stiffness, increase range of movement of different body parts, desensitize irritated tissues, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, break down scar tissues and induce relaxation. There are complex neurophysiological mechanisms underpinning the effect of manual therapy to the body. Daniele is an active member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) in the UK, a specialist group of physios who have undergone extensive training to enhance their knowledge on handling and manual treatment skills. This makes Daniele proficient in the use of hands in a curative and healing manner thanks to the use of a broad range of techniques, such as joint manipulation, traction, massage and soft tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, Maitland techniques, combined movement therapy, mobilization with movement, assisted active range of motion mobilization, passive range of motion mobilization and stretching.
