Spinal Manipulation Therapy
Spinal manipulation is a technique that targets the spine: neck, upper back and lower back. It consists of the application of rapid movement (High-Velocity Low-Amplitude) to vertebral segments producing joint surface separation, transient sensory afferent input and reduction in pain. Joint surface separation will commonly result in intra-articular cavitation that, in turn, is commonly accompany with audible “pop”. Daniele is fully trained in the use of manipulations and he commonly uses this for stretching the tissue and tear intra-articular adhesions, reduce joint stiffness and resistance to movement, reduce muscle tone and decrease pain. Spinal manipulations trigger a cascade of neurophysiological events and blood sample changes mediated by the peripheral nervous system, the spinal cord and/or the supraspinal structures that lead to pain inhibition.
